Queensland’s June technical lunch saw local stalwart David Lowry presenting his work on the structural restoration and maturity modelling of the Eromanga Basin. David’s long-lived career has seen him work as a field geologist for Geological Survey WA, as a well site geologist, and as an exploration geologist for WAPET, Lasmo, Sagasco and Origin Energy. He now consults from his home in the bush. The work he presented built on his previous APPEA paper (Lowry and Evans, 2011) focussed on new exploration concepts for the Eromanga Basin.

PESA QLD Branch kicks off their evening talks for 2018
PESA Qld Branch was delighted to welcome Dr Nick Lee to present at their April technical meeting. Dr Lee is a petroleum geoscientist with a wealth of experience gained from working internationally and the exploration-production life cycle. He is currently the Subsurface manager at QGC, the Shell-operated venture, responsible for a multi-disciplinary team of geoscientists, engineers, petrophysicists and production technologists based in Brisbane. The talk focussed on the mega-CSG projects of Eastern Australia and establishing fit for purpose data collection and workflows and expanded from the panel discussion Dr Lee participated in at last year’s SPE Unconventional Resources workshop.

36th PESA Symposium
PESA QLD/NT members and non-members are invited to the 36th PESA Symposium, to be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on Wednesday 7th September 2016. The QLD PESA branch has been actively promoting exploration, production and development of oil and gas through these symposia and its monthly technical meetings since 1977. Much has changed since our debut, but our purpose has remained the same; namely attracting explorers and developers into the northern states to meet the demand for clean, competitive energy.
