PESA WA’s Young Petroleum Professional Chapter  (YPP)  launched its new Lunch Social Catch-up Series, with the first catch-up kicked off on Friday 14 September at Cloisters Food Hall in Perth CBD.
In attendance there were nine young professionals, who are very aspiring individuals with experience ranging from freshly graduated to over 5 years in the industry, giving a great range of knowledge and opportunities for the new professionals to discuss career progression and gain insight from the more seasoned within the group. Various companies in the industry were represented in this gathering: TGS, Santos, Discover Geoscience, Murphy Oil, Chemostrat and Carnarvon.
It was great to see a group of young professionals sharing information and exchanging ideas to help each other, as often it is a difficult atmosphere for newcomers to the industry to open up due to perceived competition for work.
This event will recur every second Friday of the month at 12pm. The meeting venue will vary from local cafes and licensed venues. All information will be posted on the LinkedIn page Young Petroleum Professionals – Western Australia (YPP WA) – make sure to follow.
This event is explicitly for YPs (Young Professionals under the age of 35), so come along if you’re a student, graduate or working professional. Meeting your petroleum peers is a good chance to talk about your different background, experiences, projects, companies, etc. with awesome, like-minded people in a very laid back and friendly setting. Spread the word, share it around on the socials and look forward to seeing you soon.
The next YP event will be held in conjunction with Woodside and SPE, titled the 2018 Graduate and Young Professional Networking Sundowner on 4  October at the Rigby’s Atrium. The event details and ticket sales will be posted on PESA’s website and all information on our LinkedIn page.
If you have any questions regarding the Young Petroleum Professionals please contact Jordan McGlew at wa-young-professionals@pesa.com.au
