Henry Posamentier presented a 2-day course in Perth on 6-7th November at Pan
Pacific. His workshop delivered a masterclass on seismic stratigraphy and seismic
geomorphology and was based on Henry’s over 50 years of global experience and
pioneering work in developing the contemporary approach to sequence stratigraphic
analyses. This attracted 18 attendees.

He also spoke at Faradays in Perth on evening of 6 th November. Henry presented on
a wide range of deep-water gravity flow deposits and processes, as expressed on
seismic data, and also provided a review of modern shallow marine and coastal
processes on the Bonaparte Shelf, to a full house at Faradays on the evening of 6
November. Some spectacular examples of deep-water mass transport deposits on
seismic data and their geomorphology were shown, from mass transport complexes
in the Taranaki basin to slides and slumps offshore Norway. The seismic expression
and morphology of turbidite systems from the Bay of Bengal, were also shown along
with a discussion on the depositional processes within these systems, from leveed
channels, though to their terminal fans. The seismic expression and the seismic
attribute tools for the analysis of these depositional systems and the depositional
processes, such as spectral decomposition analysis, coherency and blending tools
were also discussed.
