Sercel delivers first WiNG to Turkey

04/09/2020 Posted by Dale

Sercel announced that it has completed its first delivery of WiNG, its next-generation wireless land nodal acquisition system. Turkish Petroleum International Company (TPIC), a long-standing Sercel client, has selected a WiNG system for upcoming seismic acquisition projects in difficult-to-access mountainous areas of Turkey.

WiNG meets TPIC’s requirements for optimal operational efficiency and delivery of the highest-quality seismic data to the processing centre. This is achieved through the combined benefits of WiNG’s System-Certified Data concept and the proven high performance of Sercel’s QuietSeis®, the industry’s only third-generation MEMS sensor.

WiNG delivers System-Certified Data thanks to its Data Completion Manager (DCM), a unique central software platform that significantly improves and automates the assignment of data collected in the field.

Shearwater receives Mauritania 3D exploration award from Total

01/09/2020 Posted by Dale

Shearwater GeoServices has announced an award for a large towed streamer 3D acquisition and Fast Track processing project by Total.

“This award confirms that our strong client focus and leadership of the consolidation in the marine geophysical industry, has positioned us well to navigate through these challenging times,” said Irene Waage Basili, the CEO of Shearwater GeoServices.

The exploration survey covers 6,000 sq. km in the C15 and C31 Blocks using an ultra-wide tow Flexisource configuration, the largest triple source spread to date, together with Fast Track processing enabled by Shearwater’s proprietary Reveal software.

The two-and-a-half-month survey is scheduled to commence in Q3 2020, adding to other recent activity in North West Africa for Shearwater, and will be carried out by the SW Empress (formerly “Polar Empress”).

CGG updates LCT software with innovations for imaging potential field data

11/08/2020 Posted by Dale

CGG Multi-Physics has released an important update to its industry-renowned LCT potential field software suite. Oil and gas exploration geoscientists use LCT to model, process and interpret their gravity and magnetic data for guiding integrated subsurface imaging.

The improved capabilities available in the new LCT R2017.06 release are based on existing user feedback. In particular, enhancements to the software’s intuitive and powerful workflows improve ease-of-use, bring overall risk reduction benefits and increase productivity to levels unavailable in previous versions.

CGG said critical techniques required for comprehensive geological forward modelling, inversion, and management of potential field data have also been extended and enhanced to rapidly deliver an accurate model of the subsurface.

PGS completes Viking Graben extension project

13/07/2020 Posted by Dale

PGS has completed the second successful GeoStreamer X seismic survey in the Viking Graben.

PGS said the survey had been completed on time and covering all targets and fast track data would be ready in the fourth quarter with final PSDM results available in the second quarter of next year.

The Norwegian seismic company said its latest technology innovations for advanced offset and azimuth-rich data were applied in the project, which builds on the successful 2010 pilot project in the same area.

“The Ramform Vanguard managed its dense streamer spread in combination with record-wide sources, acquiring a survey that will deliver a dataset of excellent quality, with high resolution, optimal near-offset distribution for shallow imaging, improved demultiple, and AVO.

Searcher launches advanced geo-imagery search engine, GeoClerk

06/07/2020 Posted by Dale

Searcher has announced the launch of its latest Searcher Technology Product, GeoClerk -- an advanced geo-imagery search engine that utilizes machine learning to intelligently extract imagery and surrounding data from all types of documents and classify them into intuitive and geologically relevant categories.

Traditional search functionality queries documents by text and are unable to instinctively provide context to an image beyond words. GeoClerk, through its use of algorithmic learning, interacts with internal document libraries, public sources, and institutional subscriptions to identify, define and present images in categories which are relevant to the exploration industry and the work of geoscientists.

Paul Larsen, Vice President of Sales & Commercial at Searcher, said, “Images, tables and maps are generally created by great minds that interpret complex theories and a large magnitude of data. F

Neptune completes survey in Bonaparte Basin

25/05/2020 Posted by Dale

Neptune Energy announced the successful acquisition of the 3D broadband seismic survey of the extensive Petrel field located in the Bonaparte basin of Australia.

The 2,900 km2 survey significantly expanded the area of seismic data Neptune holds and increased the quality and breadth of data.

Initial findings from the survey have been received with the remaining processed data due to be delivered later this year.

Internal analysis and interpretation of the acquired data will allow Neptune and its partners to plan for the future.

Neptune Energy Australia Managing Director, Janet Hann said: “The safe and successful completion of the survey is testament to the excellent teamwork of Neptune and its partners.

Polarcus wins Asia Pacific survey

04/05/2020 Posted by Dale

Oslo-listed marine seismic services company Polarcus has signed a contract for a survey in the Asia Pacific region, the Oslo-listed marine seismic services company announcing that the deal is for an XArray marine seismic acquisition project.

As per custom, Polarcus did not disclose the identity of the client nor any financial value associated with the deal.

Polarcus said the survey would start in June this year and would last for approximately one month. The company did not reveal which vessel would be deployed for the project.

The latest award comes at a precarious time for offshore seismic contractors which were recently flagged by Norway’s Rystad Energy as the most vulnerable in the oil and gas supply chain due to the fallout of historically low oil prices and the COVID-19 crisis.
