PGS and Cognite optimise vessel speed without compromising seismic show
PGS and Cognite have systemized data to increase PGS vessel speed without jeopardizing the seismic acquisition operation or the vessel integrity.

CGG Awarded Barents Sea Imaging Contract by Lundin Energy
CGG has been awarded a major project by Lundin Energy Norway AS for the seismic imaging of an innovative simultaneous node and streamer 3D survey currently being acquired over a 3700 km² area of the Nordkapp basin in the Barents Sea.

Emperor upbeat on Seismic results for Judith Gas Field
Emperor Energy has announced positive initial 3D Seismic Data results from its 100% owned Judith Gas Field in the offshore Gippsland Basin.
The Sydney-based explorer said its team of consulting geologists and geophysicists were currently doing analysis of the multi-client 3D seismic data acquired in the VIC/P47 Permit in mid-2020 by CGG. This follows an independent resource statement completed on 11 July 2019.

Shearwater sells Western Trident in fleet renewal strategy
Shearwater GeoServices has completed the sale of the seismic vessel Western Trident for recycling as part of the company’s fleet renewal strategy.
The vessel has been delivered in Turkey for recycling in accordance with EU regulations and the 2009 Hong Kong International Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships. In late 2020, Shearwater also sold the CGG Alize to be repurposed outside of the seismic industry.
These sales together with Shearwater’s recent purchase of six modern seismic vessels forms part of Shearwater’s fleet renewal strategy to replace older and less efficient units.

PGS ASA deploys two vessels to expand coverage offshore Canada
PGS seismic vessel Ramform Titan has begun acquisition of the Cape Anguille program, in partnership with TGS. This program expands the PGS-TGS joint venture with another 10 000km² of GeoStreamer 3D coverage in Newfoundland’s prospective Orphan Basin.
The survey covers existing lease blocks and open acreage. Acquisition is expected to complete mid-September 2021. PGS will deliver fast-track results in November 2021, and final imaging and interpretation products in Q1 2022.
In addition to Ramform Titan, Ramform Atlas is currently steaming towards Canada where she will start another MultiClient campaign in the first half of June.

Shearwater GeoServices commences second phase of Mid North Sea High 3D Survey
Shearwater GeoServices has commenced the second and significantly larger phase of ION Geophysical’s 11,000km² UK Mid North Sea High 3D seismic survey program using the Oceanic Vega.
Shearwater said the Mid North Sea High’s proximity to shore and existing energy infrastructure supports lower development costs, making it an attractive development region for companies both within the oil and gas and the low carbon energy sectors.
The acquisition of this large data set, prioritizing acquisition before wind farm installation, and covering areas with potential for carbon storage, represents a unique opportunity for Shearwater and ION to support future energy transition activities.

Sercel Launches GPR300 Seabed Nodal Solution for Shallow Waters
Sercel has announced the launch of GPR300, a new nodal seismic acquisition solution specially designed for deployment in shallow waters down to depths of 300 meters.
Developed in partnership with BGP, the new solution expands Sercel’s existing GPRNT range which includes GPR1500 for high-end deepwater subsurface imaging.
Compact and lightweight, GPR300 features Sercel’s unique QuietSeis® broadband digital sensor technology for ultra-quiet performance and unmatched digital fidelity.
CGG said its ability to record high-fidelity low-frequency signal also makes it the ideal choice for high-end seismic imaging with full-waveform inversion (FWI).

PGS’s Flex Vision Reveals ‘Significant Nearfield Potential’
Additional full integrity products have been released from the PGS Flex Vision data rejuvenation program in the Gulf of Mexico.
PGS said that the application of new imaging technology to the Flex Trend had revealed nearfield opportunities that boost potential far beyond original estimates.
“New data unlocks opportunities adjacent to existing discoveries, to enable infrastructure-led exploration in an area of the Gulf of Mexico that has been producing oil and gas for over two decades. Salt, the biggest challenge for exploration on the Flex Trend, is resolved with high-quality depth imaging and improved velocity control.
“The final data from the Flex Vision program demonstrates striking improvements in image quality, resolution, bandwidth, and geologic accuracy.

CGG and Geoptic sign collaboration deal for CCS monitoring
CGG has signed an R&D collaboration agreement with Geoptic to jointly research and assess a novel borehole solution for monitoring the spread of CO2 in subsurface storage sites for Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS).
The agreement focuses on developing a new version of Geoptic’s DIABLO muon tracking tool specifically for CCS applications. Geoptic deploys DIABLO as part of its pioneering use of cosmic ray muons to passively and non-intrusively image the internal structure of objects.
It has already gained award-winning experience in deploying muon technologies for subsurface surveys, such as its innovative imaging through the overburden of railway tunnels.
