DownUnder GeoSolutions (DUG) has announced the appointment of Laurence Letki as Chief Geophysicist.
DUG described Ms Letki as “an invaluable and experienced team member”, who had been promoted from her position as Principal Geophysicist.
Laurence is a highly respected industry professional, a leading expert on full waveform inversion, and a frequent speaker at oil and gas industry conferences around the globe.
She recently presented ‘High Frequency Full Waveform Inversion as an Interpretation Solution’ at APPEA 2019, and will be presenting ‘Exploring the Applications of High Frequency FWI for Qualitative and Quantitative Interpretation – a Dual Azimuth Case Study’ at SEG 2019 in September.
Commenting on her promotion, Laurence said “It is an honour to become DUG’s Chief Geophysicist. As well as fantastic recognition, it is an exciting opportunity, and I am looking forward to more and more geophysical discussions with my colleagues at DUG and within the industry.”
DUG’s Managing Director, Dr. Matthew Lamont, said: “Loz is an important member of the DUG geoscience leadership group. She is a terrific team member who has become indispensable in the short time she has been with the company. We are thrilled to be able to announce her appointment as Chief Geophysicist”.
Having graduated from Ecole Polytechnique (France) in 2007, Laurence holds MSc degrees with distinction from both UCL and the University of Southampton. Laurence also held the position of Deputy Director of the French hydrographic office: Atlantic Survey Group (“Groupe Océanographique de l’Atlantique”) for two years before commencing her career in geophysics 10 years ago.
Laurence joined DUG in 2017, coming on board as Geoscience Team Leader. This is Laurence’s second promotion with DUG, having previously been promoted to the position of Principal Geophysicist in February 2018.
