MOL Pakistan makes three new discoveries in TAL Block with Razgir-1 exploration well

28/08/2024 Posted by Dale

MOL Pakistan has announced three significant gas discoveries in the TAL Block, located in an area where the company has operated in for 25 years and produced hydrocarbons for 19 years.

The Razgir-1 exploratory well was spudded on 9 January 2024, and drilled to 3,950 meters. Three successful well tests were conducted in three separate geological formations. MOL is the operator of the TAL Block and has an 8.4 % share of volumes produced.

MOL spudded the Razgir-1 well in January 2024 and completed it ahead of the target date.

Acreage Release Restrictions Reading the ‘Last Rites’ on Offshore Exploration in Australia

15/08/2024 Posted by Dale

The ink had barely dried on the Federal Government’s Future Gas Policy announced in May and the euphoria was short lived barely a month later when Canberra belatedly announced new exploration export permits for the 2022 offshore acreage release.

Those with a glass half full attitude might toast Resources Minister Madelaine King – who often appears to be fighting a lone crusade in Canberra on behalf of the mining and oil and gas sector – for reaching this milestone two years later, but for many others in the geosciences sector the alarm bells started ringing.

Pivotree successfully tests subsea production tree and vessel mooring system

15/08/2024 Posted by Dale

Oil and gas technology company Pivotree has built and tested a full-scale prototype of its Australia made integrated subsea production tree and vessel mooring system.

Inventor and Pivotree Managing Director Chris Merrick said the PivotreeTM technology has the potential to revolutionise offshore energy development, making previously marginal and stranded oil and gas fields both profitable and sustainable.

Designed and built in Perth, Western Australia, the 44-tonne full-scale prototype combines traditional subsea tree technology with several new elements that allow it to swivel, providing 360-degree mooring capability for offtake vessels.

“In combination, the Pivotree and FPSO represent a fully functional and self-sustaining field development concept that requires no additional infrastructure such as spread moorings, platforms, flowlines, pipelines and manifolds,” Mr Merrick said.
