Biography – David Grybowski (ret) made a career in the petroleum industry even though he really wanted to be an actor. Well, he did act anyway. David last got paid as Lead Geoscientist at Santos, being responsible for promulgating best practice through mentorship, courses and project review, and by promulgating innovative workflows, interdiscipline communication and improved data retrieval systems. He was awesome, but since petroleum became a pariah, he quietly tells people he was only an actor and to stop flying.
Cry Me A River ‐ Fluvial Myths to Modelling

Abstract – Fluvial and other depositional systems have been re-imagined in mythology since Genesis. River Styx. Up the creek without a paddle. Old Man River. When the levee breaks. Huckleberry Finn. Has anything changed? Is our present-day petroleum geoengineering epistemology free of mythology? In Cry Me A River – Fluvial Myths to Mythical Modelling, David Grybowski takes us on a wild and whacky woke-walk along the proverbial riparian to test his thesis that some things never change. It’s not meant to be serious. And to prove it, the presentation will be followed by a short comedic play – The Project. Something that could have taken place in an office near you. This material will not harm geoscientists or engineers.
