Cry Me A River ‐ Fluvial Myths to Modelling

Abstract – Fluvial and other depositional systems have been re-imagined in mythology since Genesis.  River Styx.  Up the creek without a paddle.  Old Man River.  When the levee breaks.  Huckleberry Finn.  Has anything changed?  Is our present-day petroleum geoengineering epistemology free of mythology?  In Cry Me A River – Fluvial Myths to Mythical Modelling, David Grybowski takes us on a wild and whacky woke-walk along the proverbial riparian to test his thesis that some things never change.  It’s not meant to be serious.  And to prove it, the presentation will be followed by a short comedic play – The Project.  Something that could have taken place in an office near you. This material will not harm geoscientists or engineers.
