Following the success of the previous year’s events, PESA SA/NT is pleased to announce an expanded itinerary this year with a full-day core workshop at the South Australia Drill Core Reference Library in Tonsley on Friday 17th November 9am – 4pm. This year’s workshop takes an exciting new focus – quick look gross depositional environment (GDE) mapping of all key intervals in the onshore Otway Basin in SA. Chris Cubitt, Rob Kirk, Tim Rady and Sharon Tiainen will host the workshop with participants first gaining an understanding of key cores, with a focus on defining depositional environments. Subsequently in the afternoon, teams will be guided through the construction of interval specific gross depositional environment maps with integrated seismic, wireline and core data at hand. Participants will be encouraged to put pens to paper, explore new concepts, derive quick opinions and challenge regional concepts and exploration models. The workshop will finish around 4.00pm with an optional stop at the Tonsley Hotel. Who should attend? Exploration and development geoscientists, sedimentologists, petrophysicists, engineers, academics & geoscience students who wish to view onshore Otway petroleum core and get exposed to GDE mapping workflows. Cost: $60 for PESA Members, $80 for non-members, free for students – up to three places. Includes lunch. Bookings close 5pm on Monday 13th November unless sold out prior.
