Abstract:
The Harriet oilfield was discovered in 1983 when the Harriet-t well encountered a gross hydrocarbon column of 23 m in Lower Cretaceous turbidite sandstones. Detailed seismic surveys followed and a further ten wells were drilled on the field between 1983 and 1985.The massive Flag Sandstone reservoir was deposited by mass flow processes, in response to slope failure, in
a submarine environment. Reservoir qualities are very good with porosities up to 22% and permeabilities in
the range 800-2000 md.
The accumulation occurs in a low-relief, faultdependent closure on the upthrown side of the l,owendal Fault. The trap is mainly structurally controlled, but stratigraphic barriers occur within the field resulting in three separate hydrocarbon pools.
