Simon Molyneux facilitated the September interactive session, reminding participants of the mentoring program objectives. The outcome mid-program tracking session was to check-in, invigorate and energise the mentor-mentee partnerships and the Mentimeter was a great way to assess mentors and mentees’ satisfaction.
When asked on program satisfaction, mentees scored an average of 4.5/5 out of 15 responses and mentors scored an average of 3.4/5 out of 12 responses.
Most mentors and mentees have met 3 to 4 times which includes the kick-off and mid-program tracking sessions. Ideally, mentors and mentees should consider catching-up at least once a month. The informal setting of cafes and licensed venues has been popular for our mentors and mentees – which helps to support local businesses.
The group was asked to describe what the greatest outcome has been so far and the participants mentioned: planning, flexibility, strategy and listening. The overall mentoring program has been described as: valuable, helpful and networking.
After the survey, mentors and mentees had time to discuss what has worked well and what can be done to make their relationship more effective. The pairs also re-examined their mentoring contract to review what has changed since the kick-off meeting, where do they want to focus and reinforce the commitment to work together towards that goal.
Towards the end of the event everyone participated in a short session of “speed mentoring” where mentees talked to a new mentor to mutually gain information about each other for three minutes and then move on to meet someone new. The session continued, with informal networking, over drinks and nibbles until 7pm.
PESA and ASEG WA would like to thank CGG for providing the room, to Simon Molyneux for facilitating the event, to Helen Debenham and Carolina Pimentel for looking after the logistics of the event and to Helen for providing home made hummus and chutney at the commencement of the session.
The mentoring program closing session will take place at CGG ground floor function room on 28 of November 2018 at 5:15pm.
