GEOLOGY OF THE ADELAIDE HILLS. IT’S BEEN THERE FOR HALF A BILLION YEARS! WHY DIDN’T ANYONE TELL ME!?
led by David Grybowski
Sunday 2nd April 2023 9am to 3pm
This excursion aims to make participants familiar with the geological formations, folds, and faults of the Adelaide Hills immediately adjacent to Adelaide, by orientating the outcrop and faults with the road network and geomorphology. We will go up gullies and gorges from Montecute Road to Morialta to Chambers Gully via at Mt Lofty, where we’ll have a BYO lunch.
Meet at the Morialta Conservation Park car park on Stradbroke Road at 9am. We’ll be travelling in a minibus. There are 6 stops and 8 drive-by points of interest where we cannot stop due to lack of parking.
BYO lunch. Aiming to return to Morialta Conservation Park 3pm.
