Presentation Abstract:
Energy Resource Classification and Management Systems – Current and Future State
This talk will discuss the upcoming supplementary petroleum resource recognition, classification and evaluation guidance which will be provided by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and the United Nations. Specifically, the SPE will be publishing online Examples to assist in applying Petroleum Resources Management System (PRMS) 2018. Included in the discussion is an overview of what Examples are being proposed, and issues raised in their formulation.
The talk will also discuss the SPE Storage Resources Management System (SRMS) and thoughts on the future direction of resource classification and management systems as they apply to the petroleum industry and the broader energy sector to facilitate informed and reliable policy and investment decisions.
The year 2021 has seen improvement in the market fundamentals for the petroleum industry and merger and acquisition activity has increased. However, market volatility and project investment trepidation are expected to continue as the world adjusts to the ‘new normal’ of the societal, environmental and economic impact of living with COVID and the climate challenge. Governments around the world are announcing net-zero emission targets and other policy initiatives for reaching sustainable development goals. These targets have broad implications for the energy sector. Pressure to address environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) issues increasingly impacts the commercial viability of projects and their corresponding chance of development.
Tickets can be purchased below.
