Abstract:
The Gorgon Field, a giant gas accumulation discovered in 1980, remained undeveloped for over three decades due to challenging subsurface and commercial factors. Situated in the Northern Carnarvon basin in 200–300 m of water, the Gorgon Field lies 130 km from the Australian coast. After discovery in 1980 (Gorgon 1) the field was subsequently appraised through seven additional wells.
