PESA WA Branch hosted their March technical talk with over 70 people attending, with special thanks to our four sponsors: Spectrum (Platinum), CGG (Gold), Searcher Seismic (Gold) and DUG (Gold).
After a delicious lunch, the WA Branch Vice – President, Victoria Seesaha, opened the meeting with the Branch updates. Victoria announced that Carnarvon Petroleum is the new PESA student sponsor for short courses and then handed over to Carnarvon representative, Andrew Padman, to talk about why they chose to sponsor the students attending the upcoming PESA WA courses, and also gave a short introduction on their company activities as part of their sponsorship deal.
The main lunch speaker was Simon Sturrock, an experienced consultant sequence stratigrapher from STRAT TRAP Pty Ltd, who gave an interesting talk about the history and development of lithostratigraphy and sequence stratigraphy – where we are now and where we are going. The talk was accompanied by examples from the Greater North West Shelf.
Attendees had a lot of questions for Simon during the Q&A session and the discussions continued after the official closing of the event.
Simon Sturrock will follow up on the topic with a two day short course on 12 to 13 April. Student prices are subsidised thanks to Carnarvon Petroleum. Click here to sign up for this course.
Once again, we would like to thank our four sponsors of the WA Branch Technical Series, Spectrum (Platinum), CGG (Gold), Searcher Seismic (Gold) and DUG (Gold).
