Abstract:
Since late 1990 approximately 25 000 km of regional, deep-seismic, well-tie data on the North West Shelf havebeen acquired and processed using parameters and techniques which have not previously been routinely applied to data from this region. The result is a set of high quality sections which reveal much new information
from beneath high energy multiples.
High quality regional seismic data are an important component of most exploration strategies. This paper discusses some of the benefits of regional data and gives specific examples from the North West Shelf. The authors believe that, when used in conjunction with local prospect development, regional data can significantly raise the exploration success rate.
