Abstract:

Hettangian to Bathonian marine sequences in some petroleum exploration wells on the North West Shelf of
Australia are summarized. Six marine pulses are recognised, and their distribution indicated. The problems caused by acceptance of purely palynological interpretations of the depositional environment during this time interval are aluded to.
