On Friday 12th August around 60 of the WA members gathered at the Celtic Club in West Perth for our annual Winter Warmer, a night of good natured socialising.

The raffle this year was in aid of the National Rock Garden in Canberra, which aims to raise awareness of the diversity of Rocks in Australia, and foster an interest in Geology from the public and hopefully translate into starting some young people towards a dream of Geology....
Just shy of 100 people showed up to the new WA Museum Boola Bardip for an evening of networking and looking at rocks.
The “origins” gallery was open for members to view before and during the event. This contained an amazing collection of meteorites, a whole area dedicated to stromatolites, and many displays of rocks and minerals. This included the very photogenic thin section tunnel, which is prominent in the photos shown here.
