Abstract:
A little over 1000 crew months of seismic exploration has been conducted in Queensland from its start, in 1958, until the end of 1976. Eighty six percent of this work was done prior to 1967 - a period when field and nterpretation methods were unsophisticated by present day standards. Hence we have a large amount of datauseful in delineating broader areas of interest, but which is unsuitable as a basis for present day processing and interpretation techniques.
Modern instrumentation and data gathering methods are expensive, but the rapid coverage attainable can result in costs per kilometre comparable to those of previous years. Add to this the value of the subtleties made possible and a much better return for the exploration dollar is achieved.
