Abstract:
The northern Bonaparte Basin is a known and proven hydrocarbon province. It hosts a number of large gas-condensate accumulations, including the Bayu-Undan Field and the Sunrise-Sunset-Loxton Shoals-Troubadour (SSLT) complex, as well as a number of oil pools, the Laminaria-Corallina, Elang-Kakatua-Kakatua North (EKKN), Buffalo and Kitan fields. Several of these accumulations are within the JPDA and have been produced, are under production or are planned for development. By world standards the Timor Leste Exclusive Area (TLEA) and the Joint Petroleum Development Area (JPDA) comprising over 64,000 km2 is still under-explored (Figure 1 ). The TLEA has only been open for active exploration in the last six years and only two recent wells have been drilled in the area.
