Abstract:
The mainstream media treatment of oil and gas issues is often predictable and observant of a tried and tested formula. As a petroleum play is determined by a geological set of circumstances, "media plays" are similarly determined by a combination of contributing, external factors that are sometimes only abstractedly at best related to the issue at hand.
