Abstract:

The uppermost Barrow Group is intersected in wells in the Chervil and Nasutus area of the Southern Barrow Sub-basin. The Lower Cretaceous Barrow Group represents a major deltaic system, and associated submarine fan, containing the major reservoir sandstones of the Barrow Sub-basin (Baillie Jacobsen, 1997 and references therein). The Group comprises an unconformity-bound package of sandstones and and siltstones that overlies the Dupuy Sandstone, and is unconformably overlain by the Mardie Greensand Member of the Muderong Shale (Tait, 1985). Th Mardie Greensand records cessation of delta deposition and widespread transgression throughout the region during the Neocomian (Parry & Smith, 1988).
