Abstract:
Within the next 12 months some of Australia's largest oil and gas exploration companies will be headed for protracted arbitration over the prices they want for their gas. The sums they will have to do will need to take into account the normal risk costs associated with oil and gas exploration and the effects of a possible new expense in the form of a new tax on the industry. The companies will include the Cooper Basin explorers and developers headed by SANTOS, which provides the main negotiating team for pricing discussions.
