Abstract:
Queensland and South Austra lia have each embarked uponexercises to replace outdated petroleum legislation - in the case
of Queensland, the Petroleum Act 1923 and the Cas Act 1965,
and in the case of South Australia, the Petroleum Act 1940.
A lthough both states have been engaged in the
consultation/drafting exercise for in excess of five years, the
South Australian legislation has been enacted as the Petroleum
Act 2000, whereas the Queensland draft of its legislation (the
Petroleum and Gas Bill 2001) is still some way from completion.
