Abstract:
During the short time which has elapsed since this paper was presented at a PESA luncheon, a series of events have occurred which should help to restore a measure of stability to the oil industry - at least during 1987. The dramatic dismissal of Saudi Arabia's oil minister, Sheik Yamani, and the decision of OPEC's 80th Conference to set a fixed price for a basket of OPEC crudes were two of the more prominent events.
