Abstract:
Review of existing models and correlations reinforces the need for True Stratigraphic Thickness (TST). TST is measured perpendicular to the structural dip of the formation or zone of interest. Not using TST or incorrect calculation of the TST leads to inaccurate correlation between wells, missing section calculation, volume calculation, and poor layering schemes in simulation models. Complications in measurement of TST arise because it is not directly measured in wells.
