Whilst the goal for renewable energy is laudable, in the interim, before these can be put into effect, there is a strong case for gas to replace coal for electricity generation and liquid fuel for transportation. Off the shelf technology exists today to fulfil these requirements.
This presentation outlines how our current dependence on imported oil products can be alleviated by the utilization of gas, and how obsolescent coal fired electricity generation can easily be replaced by gas turbines.
It also suggests ways to reduce the public concerns of developing gas by both conventional and non-conventional methods.
