Rob Kirk has 45 years exploring with SA Oil and Gas, Occidental, BHP, Woodside and consulting.

His interest is in seismic and sequence stratigraphy and he regularly gives a 1 week Operational Sequence Stratigraphy Course.

He also does community talks for U3A, Probus and various history societies and has recently written a book on the founding of Adelaide.

Soft Geology – A Seismic View

Abstract

This talk is about trying to get extra geology out of your data. Seismic facies variations will be used, along with geological models, to help map belts of different geology. We will travel around the world looking at a variety of environments from fans, through incised valleys, basal transgressive sands, rivers, and deltas, to carbonate reefs, volcanoes and even hydrates.
