Abstract:
The Ganaway Fault is a major structural feature in western Queensland. It forms the eastern margin of the Ganaway Ridge which separates the Cooper Basin from the Galilee Basin (Senior, 1975) and was previously thought to form the western boundary of the Adavale Basin. It has recently been suggested (Pinchin & Senior, 1982) however, that there are remnants of the Adavale Basin to the west of the Ganaway Fault. A combined seismic and gravity survey by the Bureau of Mineral Resources (BMR) in 1980 (Wake-Oyster & Pinchin, 1980) recorded several regional traverses across the central Eromanga Basin, two of which crossed the Ganaway Fault. The detailed seismic and gravity results on these two traverses have enabled a new interpretation to be made of the structure and timing of the Ganaway Fault.
