Abstract:
The Permian to Triassic aged Pedirka Basin in the Northern Territory has been a focus of a multidisciplinary precompetitive geoscience study that aims to understand the lithology, stratigraphy and petroleum potential of the region as part of the Resourcing the Territory initiative. This manuscript summarises major work completed under this program. Well logging in combination with HyLoggerTM data has been used to update and refine the stratigraphy of the Pedirka Basin. Publicly available data has been collated into a new digital information package. This data has been used to review and update the understanding of basin history and update its petroleum prospectivity. The results of this project have implications for a wide range of subsurface activities including assessment of petroleum, natural hydrogen, geosequestration, coal, groundwater and geothermal resources.
