CGG announced during Africa Oil Week that the fast-track 3D seismic data from its recent Mozambique multi-client survey in the outer Zambezi Delta Basin is now available for license. Interested international oil companies with an Africa focus can view the high-end data set in CGG data rooms in anticipation of the country’s 2019 licensing round. The data covers a 15,400 km2 area over blocks Z5-C and Z5-D and surrounding open acreage. It was acquired as part of a multi-client program agreed between CGG and Mozambique’s Instituto Nacional de Petroleo (INP) in 2017.

Spectrum and TGS announce collaboration on expanded Santos Basin Multi-Client 3D Survey
Spectrum and TGS have joined forces and expanded the Santos 3D seismic program to 15,000 square kilometers over the prospective southern Santos Basin offshore Brazil. TGS and Spectrum will be equal partners with seismic data processing and imaging to be performed by TGS. The survey covers an area south of the high profile discoveries of the Santos Basin and the recent sought after blocks offered in Rounds 2,3,4,5 and 15. Rune Eng, CEO Spectrum, comments, “Spectrum is excited to cooperate with TGS in this survey over such a highly prospective area.

High-End Seismic Imaging Solves Shallow Gas Challenges
The latest Q modeling, and Q-compensating imaging techniques bring greater clarity to Northern Viking Graben, CGG has announced. CGG has recently completed seismic depth imaging of its entire Northern Viking Graben multi-client survey, in the Norwegian North Sea. The latest visco-acoustic (“Q”) velocity modeling and seismic imaging technologies have been applied to BroadSeis™ broadband variable-depth streamer field data, acquired between 2014 and 2016. The final output forms a contiguous data volume covering 35,400 km².

TGS announces new 3D multi-client survey off West Africa
Norwegian geoscientist data company TGS has announced that it will commence a new 3D multi-client in West Africa in the early fourth quarter of this year. TGS said that Jaan, a fully harmonized 3D multi-client project, will cover the southern portion of the MSGBC Basin from northern Senegal, through Gambia and the AGC zone into Guinea-Bissau and down to the Guinea transform fault. The project will consist of 11,135 square kilometres of new acquisition complemented by the reprocessing and full stack merging of existing multi-client 3D. The new data will be acquired using triple source broadband acquisition.

CGG’s MotionMap UK Data ‘Enhances Ground Risk Reports of Terrafirma Search’
High-precision ground stability measurements from CGG’s recently released MotionMap UK database will now be used to enhance the specialist ground risk reports of Terrafirma Search, the UK’s leading independent advisor on ground hazards. After signing a multi-year agreement with CGG, Terrafirma becomes one of the first UK companies to include the latest-generation MotionMap UK data, which reveals millimeter-scale changes in ground and building heights, in their suite of geological, geotechnical and environmental services.

CGG Develops a Centre for Advanced Imaging for PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd
CGG and PETRONAS Carigali, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS), have agreed on collaboration to provide access to CGG’s latest technology and expertise in high-end seismic and multi-physics imaging and reservoir characterization, the Paris-based geoscience company announced. CGG said it had received a five-year contract by PETRONAS Carigali to develop a Centre for Advanced Imaging (CAI) to be operated by PETRONAS Carigali at its headquarters in the landmark PETRONAS Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

FAR finalises well location for exploration program in Gambia
FAR Limited has selected its final well location for the upcoming Samo-1 well in its Gambian exploration programme. This follows reprocessing and interpretation of 3D seismic data, detailed mapping of the Samo Prospect and detailed well engineering, FAR announced recently. The Samo Prospect lies immediately to the south and along trend from the giant SNE oil field in Senegal – a trend which has so far seen nine successful exploration and appraisal wells (at 100% success rate). The Samo-1 well will be located in approximately 1,017m water depth and 112km offshore Gambia in the highly prospective Mauritania-SenegalGuinea-Bissau-Conakry Basin.

Dorado oil well discovery is right off the top Shelf
Carnarvon Petroleum has announced that 171 million barrels of oil discovered at the Dorado well represented “one of the largest oil resources ever found on the North West Shelf”. The Perth-based explorer said oil fields of this scale were not often found, with the last large field discovery on the North West Shelf occurring about 30 years ago. “It is common for additional resources to be discovered in the surrounding area after a large discovery.

MGPalaeo and Petrosys to expand GPinfo’s Capabilities
MGPalaeo, Australian biostratigraphic experts, and Petrosys, an industry leader in mapping, surface-modeling and data-management software solutions, have signed an agreement that will allow data from MGPaleo’s AUSTRALIS™ geological database to be made available within the GPinfo data visualisation and manipulation package. In a media release, MGPalaeo announced that from August 2018, GPinfo subscribers will be able to view a high-level summary of all available geological data (biostratigraphy, lithostratigraphy, and sequence stratigraphic picks, plus wireline logs, checkshot surveys, deviation data, and more) within MGPalaeo’s AUSTRALIS database.

TGS announces updates to Australian data library
TGS is pleased to announce that the purchase of the Capreolus 3D seismic survey from Polarcus has been completed. The Capreolus, full broadband 3D seismic survey is 22,130 km2 and covers two hydrocarbon provinces with proven, but underexplored, oil and gas plays both in the Beagle and Bedout sub-basins offshore north-west Australia. Capreolus 3D includes modern 3D coverage over the Phoenix South and Roc oil and gas discoveries. Additionally, Capreolus 3D also spans the Dorado-1 exploration well and Phoenix South-3 appraisal well, currently being drilled.
