Abstract:
A crustal-scale, fully restored section across the PNG orogenic belt reveals the Oligocene to Recent compressional deformation of the margin. The northern end of the section comprises the Landslip Metamorphics, an accreted continental terrane, separated from the main part of the Fold Belt by the Jurassic April Ultramafics and Om Metamorphics, interleaved with Eocene volcanics which together constitute an accretionary prism.
