Abstract:
The up to 300m thick Cambrian Limestone Aquifer in northern Australia extends over different climatic zones from the dry savanna to the tropics and is karstified. This hydrologically challenging system was studied using multiple environmental tracer datasets obtained through collaboration across several projects and organisations. Although some of the findings are seemingly counterintuitive or even contradictory, they were reconciled into a congruent conceptual model of recharge processes, general flow direction and inter-aquifer connectivity.
