Abstract:
In 2019, the first ever Seismic While Drilling (SWD) dataset recorded by Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) fibre optic cable was acquired at the Otway Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) site. After analysing the recorded signal, a new technique named shift and stack was developed to increase signal to noise ratio at selected drill-bit impulse positions. Data quality is encouraging after such an initial processing step. However, a fundamental problem inherited from the raw SWD dataset still remains, which relates to the unknown drill-bit signal emission time or zero reference time.
