Abstract:
Petroleum systems have been defined as a mature source rock and all its generated hydrocarbon accumulations (Magoon & Dow, 1994). The system includes all the geological features necessary for petroleum accumulations to develop – source, reservoir, seal, trap etc. This concept of the petroleum system has been applied to Australia by Bradshaw (1993) and Bradshaw et al. (1994) who delineated a series of supersystems (e.g., Centralian, Larapintine, etc.) and a series of systems therein (Larapintine 1, Larapintine 2 etc.).
