Abstract:
This paper briefly addresses the source rock characteristics and petroleum systems present in the Amadeus Basin. Previous work has shown that there is really only one quality source rock - the Ordovician Horn Valley Siltstone. New data from CSIRO (Marshall2003b) shows that there appears to have been generation of liquid hydrocarbons from intervals that previously have been considered to have poor potential.
