Abstract:
1983 proved to be a decisive year, both in terms of industry consolidation and for the developing maturity of our Society. On the one hand, for the first time since the fortescue discovery, exploration discovered recoverable reserves of sufficient volume, it is reported, to offset consumption during the year. On the other hand, I think it is fair to say that our Society is taking on the characteristics of a truly professional body by any standard.
