Tor McCaul, Managing Director, Comet Ridge Ltd

Tor McCaul has over 30 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry. He graduated in Petroleum Engineering from UNSW in 1987 and spent the next 9 years based in Brisbane working with operating companies in development and production roles.  He spent the following 11 years in Asia in technical, finance, commercial, and management roles, including LNG Contract Manager for VICO Indonesia on the 23 mtpa Bontang LNG project and Head of Commercial for the Indian business for Cairn Plc.  He became Managing Director of Comet Ridge Limited in 2009. Tor has previously been the Chairman for the Queensland Section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and President of QUPEX.   In November 2018, Tor was elected to the board of AEP, and he is currently serving as Vice Chair.

Melanie Fitzell, Lead Geologist/Tenures & Applications Manager, Comet Ridge Ltd

Melanie Fitzell is a geologist with over 23 years’ experience in petroleum exploration and appraisal. She holds a Bachelor of Earth Science (Honours) from the University of Queensland. Melanie joined Comet Ridge in February 2013 as a Senior Geologist and has had significant involvement (in all aspects of exploration, appraisal, and operations) in CSG and conventional projects in the Galilee Basin, as well as Comet Ridge’s CSG projects across the Mahalo Gas Hub in the Bowen Basin. Melanie’s role has expended over her time with Comet to include management of tenure and project compliance, tenure and grant applications and overlapping tenure management Melanie currently serves as Vice President of PESA Queensland and is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
