PESA was one of several associations from around the world with a presence at the 85th EAGE Conference & Exhibition held in Oslo in June, attended by WA member Lauren Found who was truly inspired.
At the conference, Lauren spoke with the EAGE board and the representatives from other international associations, exchanging stories about the range of activities that are carried out by each organisation that keep people aware of exploration activities and research through the technical programmes, as well as keeping members connected through networking event.
As a Young Professional in the energy industry, a lot of discussion was held around the experiences of joining the industry just before 2020, and how the adaptation of events held through PESA, such as the introduction of the webinar series, allowed for technical research to continued to be shared when in-person events were at a minimum.
The EAGE board was also very interested in the YP perspective of how Association-organised events such as field trips and short courses help in upskilling and bolstering confidence in developing our careers in the changing energy landscape, as well as the PESA-ASEG Young Professional networking evenings which provide a chance for newbies in the industry to converse with those with a wealth of experience in a social setting catered more towards them.
Overall, the conference was well attended, with heavy focuses on manoeuvring a changing world through not only new technologies and exploration, but preparing and adapting the professionals to match.
