Professor Alan Cook was the Foundation Professor of Geology at Wollongong University and world-renowned organic petrologist - sought after for his expertise by coal and petroleum companies from around the world, Alan was undoubtedly the foremost organic petrologist Australia has ever known or likely to know. His enduring legacy may be his scientific discoveries that have proved so valuable to Australia and indeed the world. Or perhaps his students, who are now spread out across the globe, many having become captains of industry.
