Abstract:
The Bowen-Gunnedah-Sydney basins form one large foreland basin depositional system marked by a number of prominent structural subdivisions. Despite having a similar structural history, coal seam gas (CSG) exploration results over the last three decades have shown a wide variation in CSG characteristics. In particular, recent CSG exploration in the Bohena Trough area of the Gunnedah Basin in northern New South Wales has shown greater local variability than was expected from exploration activity in the area over the previous decade.
