Abstract:

In 2005 and 2006, Origin Energy Resources (NZ) Ltd (Origin) was awarded petroleum exploration permits PEP 38262 and PEP 38264 covering an area of more than 36,000 km2 in the offshore Canterbury Basin, New Zealand. Previous exploration of the offshore Canterbury Basin has been largely restricted to the shelf area west of the 200 m isobath, resulting in the discovery of subcommercial gas/condensate pools in two of the five wells drilled.
