A prize of $1,000 is offered for the best Honours, Masters or PhD thesis and/or associated
research paper submitted in 2021 that focuses on petroleum & energy resources geoscience of
South Australia. PhD theses completed by publication must nominate a candidate chapter
prepared as a paper for peer-review and submitted in 2021 in order to be eligible.
The candidate must have been enrolled at a South Australian tertiary education institution while
undertaking their research and they must intend to pursue a career either in the upstream
petroleum industry, related energy resources development (CO2 storage, H2 storage, deep
hydrogeology, geothermal resources) or in related geoscientific research.
Assessment of applications is based on the academic excellence of the research, its
contribution to the understanding of South Australian petroleum & energy resources geoscience
and comments from a referee or ideally, a supervisor of the candidate’s research. Applications
may be made on a candidate’s behalf by their supervisor in the first instance.
