Workshop 2 With Rob Kirk: Slopes – From Outcrop To Subsurface
Wednesday, 21 April, 2021 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm (Australia/Adelaide time)
Free – $30.00
Summary: This is the 2nd of Rob Kirk’s series of workshops examining the various components of a stratigraphic sequence in outcrop and in the sub-surface. This talk will venture up from the basin floor fans discussed in the first workshop to look at another difficult-to-explore region; the marine slope. This is the world of slumps, slides and variably back-filled submarine canyons. Levee-channel complexes will be discussed along with why we do not find them in Australia. Rob will kick off with a presentation looking at outcrop and sub-surface examples, and then attendees can examine and interpret real-world examples from Rob’s collection. Attendees are also strongly encouraged to bring along their own seismic and / or well data for the group to review and discuss.
The cost includes a selection of canapes. For simplicity, and because some attendees may be driving home afterwards, alcoholic or soft drinks will be available for purchase from Henry’s Bar but are not included in the price.
Post-workshop dinner: After the first workshop, several people went for an impromptu dinner. PESA is looking to put a dinner on a semi-formal footing for future workshops, so please use the booking form to indicate whether you would like to attend. The dinner will be at your own cost, but registering will allow PESA to make a reservation at a suitable restaurant.
Timing: Meet for drinks in Henry’s Bar at Ayers House at 5:00, with the workshop starting at 5:30
