The Company is focused on playing a constructive role in the global energy transition towards a lower carbon future\, by developing the significant low CO2 gas resource within the basin. Tamboran’s key assets include a 25% working interest in EP 161\, a 100% working interest and operatorship in EP 136\, EP 143 and EP(A) 197 and a 38.75% working interest and operatorship in EPs 98\, 117 and 76 which are all located in the Beetaloo Basin. DESCRIPTION:PESA NSW September Technical Meeting\nMelbana in Cuba: the Amistad-1 success story\nMelbana Energy drilled the Alameda-1 discovery well in onshore Cuba in 2021.  By 2022 the discovery was independently certified by McDaniel (A Canadian based Reserves Certifier with extensive experience in Cuba) to contain over 5 billion barrels of oil in place (best estimate) and 267 million barrels of recoverable oil (best estimate). \nIn 2023 Melbana followed up the Alameda-1 well with the successful Amistad-1 appraisal well which was designed to test the uppermost sheet of reservoirs in the Alameda field (Unit 1A\, 1B\, 2 and 3). \n\nUnit 1A recovered 11.7° API oil with 3\,783 cP viscosity at surface from a 63 metre MD interval starting from 445 metres MD. Although flow rates at surface were not established 40 barrels of oil flowed unassisted to surface (through a 32/64” choke)\, exceeding expectations.\nUnit 3 intercepted 200 metres updip and 500 metres to the south of the Alameda-1 intercept and confirmed moveable oil of a similar quality to Unit 1A. Testing indicated the potential to flow at ~750 bopd. The Unit 2 DST did not demonstrate moveable hydrocarbons to surface at the location tested.\nUnit 1B recovered 19.4° API oil with 5.7 cP viscosity at surface from a 70 metre TVD perforated section – less than 20% of the total Net Pay for Unit 1B (when incorporating fractures). Stabilised unassisted flow rate to surface of 1\,235 bopd measured over 12 hours on a 36/64” choke\, peaking at 1\,903 bopd.\n\nLogged Net Pay for the entire Amistad Formation is 346 metres TVD using 9% porosity\, 50% Sw and 40% VSh cutoffs this  net pay increases to 615 metres when the highly fractured limestones are incorporated (45% of the gross interval). Flow from the fractured interval has been proven by acquisition of production logs validating the incorporation of fractures into the net pay equation. \nUnit 1B has now been completed for future production\, whilst Units 1A and 3 have been suspended for potential future development and production. \nIn March 2024 McDaniel provided a resource update on the Unit 1B; \n\n46 MMbbls (P50) Contingent Resources – Development Pending in the eastern section of the greater Alameda field in the vicinity of the existing wells.\n90 MMbbls (P50) Prospective Resources of assigned in the western part of the field to reflect the uncertainty associated with being away from the existing wells. However\, McDaniels assigned a 70% chance of discovery to the prospective resource reflecting the low- risk nature of this area (given it is updip from the existing discoveries within the field). The risk associated with this area is based on reservoir deliverability.\n\nA preliminary field development plan is being developed for exploitation of Unit1B and an additional two wells focussing purely on production from Unit1B are being planned with the aim of initiating international oil export from Cuba.

Examples will include; \n\nTurbidite deposits from the Grand Banks off Canada.\nAlso in the Puerto Rico Trench where individual sands were correlated using the colors of the upper muddy parts of the flows.\nOther work will show the movement of melting ice sheets using raft detritus found in the cores.\nSlides and a unique video of Bruce Heezen will be used in this talk.

People have no real idea just how massively complicated the Grid actually is and until AEMO became active in seeking to educate Australians just how important their role is\, especially on the East Coast\, the Grid was something of a Black Hole manipulated by the political elements of our society. AEMO has issued in its two recent Reports to Parliament (published widely) extremely worrying determinations that the East Coast of Australia is most likely going to suffer energy black-outs in the coldest and hottest months of 2025 through 2027. Our speaker will be addressing these critical issues along with the role gas will play in filling holes during downturns in electricity generation.

DESCRIPTION:PESA NSW July Technical Meeting\nFinding new sources of gas to meet demand for NSW\nNSW business and retail consumers require approximately 120 PJ of natural gas per year. Historically\, gas supply has relied on traditional suppliers in the Cooper Basin\, South Australia\, the Gippsland Basin\, and Victoria along with AGL Energy’s Camden Gas Project (5% of NSW requirements)\, to supply NSW’s gas needs. The role of natural gas in transforming to net zero in NSW is poorly understood whilst the gas markets attempt to avoid gas shortages as both Gippsland and Copper Basin fields decline below critical thresholds. \nThe recently announced Labour Government’s Future Gas Strategy is the latest in a long line of policies/statements/regulations attempting to promote new gas field development against a backdrop of declining fossil fuel investment and public sentiment. \nThe talk will examine a number of sedimentary basin in NSW including conventional and coal seam gas projects in the Sydney\, Gloucester and Gunnedah Basins through the author’s unique perspective on what to look for and assess these project’s key technical risks in an attempt to explain where NSW’s next gas supply could come from.

DESCRIPTION:Joint PESA NSW-ASEG NSW Technical Meeting\nStructure and burial history of the South Nicholson region\nThe South Nicholson Region (SNR)\, spanning the Northern Territory and Queensland\, has long been underexplored\, resulting in substantial gaps in our understanding of its geological past. This study aims to bridge these knowledge gaps by analyzing newly obtained data to reveal the region’s burial history and hydrocarbon potential. Our research presents a detailed sequence of geological events that have defined SNR\, utilizing insights from the newly drilled NDI Carrara1 well and the recent 17GA-SN1 seismic line. We have identified three main source rock intervals within the basin: one in the Paleozoic and two in the Proterozoic. We developed various scenarios to examine hydrocarbon migration within the basin. Rather than cancel our meeting your executive has decided to have a discussion\nabout the content of the recently widely circulated short movie/video Climate The Movie (The\nReal Truth) which can be seen on \nhttps://eds6.mailcamp.nl/url.phpsubid=vew0x395z1j7i14&nstatid=9gj40j711y&info=n9w3d0v&L=17131&F=H \nThe movie is unusual in that it summarises a sceptical view of climate change accepting that\,\nyes\, the earth is warming but not as much as claimed and is a natural result of emerging from\na “mini-ice-age”. The very distinguished speakers also doubt the effect of carbon dioxide in\nthe observed warming and stress that current levels are unusually low compared to past\ngeological ages\, dropping to dangerously low levels during the last Ice age. \nOne of the frustrating things I find is the lack of (readily accessible) basic data to support the\nmany assertions in this and other presentations on the subject. Do the famous Greenland ice\ncores really show temperature rise preceding a rise in atmospheric CO2? Is the level of the\nPacific Ocean really rising? Original references and copies\, if possible\, would be welcome.\nAnyway please come to what I hope will be an interesting and\, I hope\, worthwhile experiment.\nLooking forward to seeing you there.

DESCRIPTION:Onshore Gippsland CSG Potential – Myth or Massive?\nThe onshore Gippsland hydrocarbon province has always been a poor cousin to the prolific offshore discoveries of gas and oil. It has been\, however\, the powerhouse of Victoria driven by the huge open-cut brown coal deposits in the Latrobe Valley. Following conventional gas discoveries in the Strzelecki Group at Trifon\, Gangell and Wombat\, attention turned to the shallower\, but deeper than the mined seams\, Traralgon brown coals as candidates for methane extraction from immature\, wet lignite. \nEarly test drilling was carried out in 2005\, but when Exxon entered the area in 2012\, the press perception of easily extracted gas gained widespread publicity in the national press. This presentation describes the technical history of exploration for brown coal CSG\, compared with the public perception of its potential and with the added complication of Victorian Government reaction and legislation.

See you there! \nMELBOURNE CUP SWEEP AND CALCUTTA PROCESS \nDue to the smaller groups of attendees and in an effort to increase interest in the Calcutta aspects of our price Prediction Day/Melbourne Cup our auctioneer\, Andy Rigg and the team have come up with an amended set of Rules to make the day more competitive and fun. The new rules of the front end of the Calcutta are as follows: \nEvery person registered and attending on the day of the meeting (including speakers) receives an option to purchase a ticket in the PESA Melbourne Cup (Sweep);\nEvery person above then has the choice to either exercise the option and purchase a ticket in the sweep for $40 or sell the option to the highest bidder\, who must then exercise the option (i.e. and pay the $40 to the auction team);\nThe price paid to buy an option goes to the original option holder;\nThe $40 goes to auction team as a pot for the race to the distributed between first\, second and third horses;\nWith 24 horses the pot should be $960;\nThe names of the persons exercising the options will be inserted into a hat and then drawn against horses drawn out of another hat;\n1/ If the number of exercised options is equal to the number of starters in the Melbourne Cup\, then every exercised option will receive a horse in the sweep;\n2/ If the number of exercised options is less than the number of starters\, then all the names of the registered persons attending will go back into the draw for the remaining horses;\n3/ If the number of exercised options is greater than the number of starters\, then not all exercised option owners will receive a horse in the sweep;\nOnce the owners of all the horses in the field are known\, then the call of the card and the normal Calcutta bidding process can begin as usual based on the declared pot. \nBest advice is to bring along some cash (no credit card facilities available in the Adams Room)\, a willingness to have a lot of fun and front up at the Masonic Club (also known as the Castlereagh Boutique Hotel) on Tuesday 7 November 2023 and get together with all your old friends for a great days entertainment.

DESCRIPTION:Seismic in the 60s\nTwo clapped out vessels\nOne drunken skipper\n100 ton of Nitramon \nAn explosive combination!\nPlus Discussion Forum: The future of the PESA NSW Branch\nPlease complete the membership survey by clicking here \nSummary:\nSet in the early days of marine seismic in Australia\, December 1966 to February 1967 \nI spent 3 months as a summer student. It was a 2 boat survey – both clapped out coastal freighters MV Merino and MV Paul Markson. \nAn incident filled trip. \nBallasting the kerosene filled streamer with lead and gaffer tape at midnight on a pitching deck 30ft above the water with no rails whatsoever (OHS was an unknown acronym). Deck awash with kero which rotted all our footwear (and feet). \nSkipper was a drunk\, Party Chief was an idiot. \n8500 foot streamer cut in half by a freighter because the skipper couldn’t signal properly with his Aldis lamp (he could hardly hold it!). \nStreamer sections blown up because the shooting boat couldn’t keep position. \nStreamer sections bitten by sharks. \nSpanish deckhand almost dead from carbon tetrachloride poisoning because he couldn’t tell anyone what was wrong. \nDrunk found down in the hull complete with wine flagon just before we headed to sea. \nHeading back to Portland in a Force 10 gale knowing that the Sedco 135G had slipped its tow and was somewhere out in front of us. \nAnd to cap it all\, we found that 50% of our powder (about 25 tons) would sometimes not explode so it was jettisoned overboard – 1\,000 yellow canisters bobbing off into the Tasman Sea.

DESCRIPTION:Tony Allan – The Darai Limestone\, T-Letter stages and strontium with everything: exploration stratigraphy in the Papuan Basin\, a lab and field perspective.\nNotice: Date change to Tuesday 19th September \nThe Oligo-Miocene Darai Limestone crops out over much of the Papuan Fold Belt in the western Papuan Basin\, so its stratigraphy is critical in developing structural models to target Mesozoic reservoirs. Since its first application in the Muller Range in 1990 by Mobil\, strontium (Sr) dating has been used extensively throughout the Papuan Fold to map the base Darai surface. Most of the isotopic analysis was done at the CSIRO labs in Sydney\, in conjunction with petrographic study of limestones as a QC on Sr ages. Without name-dropping too many species\, the talk will outline how the petrographic and field research revitalised the conventional “T-Letter” foram biostratigraphy and Darai microfacies stratigraphy through its calibation to the Sr data. This has been a close collaborative effort with many exploration companies – so some industry geologists might be named. \nExploration for Tertiary limestone reservoirs in the eastern Papuan Basin was revived by InterOil in the early 2000s\, resulting in the 2009 Antelope gas discovery in a Miocene “reef”. By contrast with the Darai “platform”\, in the east sedimentation in a more rifted margin is reflected in the Tertiary sequence; with localised shallow carbonate deposition contiguous with deeper water carbonate and clastic sedimentation\, and the tectonic overprint from the middle Miocene of foreland  Aure  volcanigenic sediments. Within this setting the stratigraphic record of marker forams (& other calacreous microfssils) is complicated by geological factors including reworking and condensation/non-deposition. As a result\, the “noise free” T-Letter scheme and broader microfacies sequence in the Darai has been important to the exploration search for carbonate reservoirs in the east. \nThis account will touch on lessons relevant to ongoing exploration; (1) some findings on Sr age anomalies and their geological and diagenetic causes that have emerged\, particularly in the search for “reef reservoirs in the eastern Papuan basin\, and (2) potential to refine Tertiary sedimentaion models with the large basinwide petrographic and Sr dataset that captures time-facies information. And some concluding remarks on the Darai exploration legacy for current and future Tertiary basin research on the Australian Margin.
