Simon is the principal geoscientist and Managing Director of Molyneux Advisors. The Perth basin has been the locus of substantial exploration success in recent years. From the Waitsia discovery in 2014, through Beharra Springs Deep to West Erregulla and Lockyer Deep it seems every well that hits the Permian is a success. New exploration models have replaced the models that directed drilling decisions for the prior decades.
In this talk, the recent Lockyer Deep discovery will be discussed in the context of Perth Basin Permian prospectivity. Supported by global analogues and underpinned by technical analysis, we will present some predictions about resource potential, future exploration success and potential gas supply from the Perth Basin.
