PESA QLD: Technical Luncheon, 21st November – Brian Boulmay
Thursday, 21 November, 2019 @ 12:15 pm - 2:00 pmFree
This month, PESA QLD have teamed up with the Esri Australia to bring to Brisbane, international guest speaker Mr Brian Boulmay from BP. Brian is BP’s Global Integration Director, and will be delivering a presentation entitled “BP’s Geospatial Transformation.”
Brian will detail a case history of BP’s transition towards a digital data repository, a platform for hosting geospatial information and exploration data. Brian’s vision challenged technical advocates to inspire innovation from within the organisation.
As technology marches on, explorers small and large are racing to catch up to implement digital technologies into their everyday workflows. If you are asking yourself “What does ‘Big Data’ mean for us?” or if you’d like to get an insight in how a supermajor like BP handles their vast datasets, then this presentation is for you.
This technical lunch is kindly sponsored by Esri Australia.
The Technical Lunch will be held at the Brisbane Hilton Hotel, in the “Victoria’s Room” with access from the Hilton Main Foyer on level 6.

For over 150 years, BP’s American arm has supplied the energy fuelling America’s growth. Now contributing $85 billion to the U.S. economy sourced from more than a dozen wind farms across eight states. BP US sits at the forefront of America’s oil and gas producers and refiners, as well as being one of the largest operators of renewable energy amongst its peers.
Behind this business and essential to the continual growth of these numbers is a digital transformation strategy enabling more sustainable operations, better managed expenses, and the uncovering of new products and services for customers around the world. Becoming the award-winning, digital energy company that BP is today required an overhaul of the organisation’s location intelligence capabilities. Central to BP’s transformation was the modernisation of the company’s core Geographic Information System (GIS).
Leading what has been globally recognised as one of the most important transformation projects ever undertaken by a petroleum company was BP’s Global Integration Director – Brian Boulmay.
Brian Boulmay, who also holds the position of BP’s Upstream Technical Advisor – a role allowing him to steer the development of solutions that shape the company’s global business – is an accomplished public speaker having presented to petroleum, GIS, and c-suite audiences across the globe.
