When Should You Put Your Geotechnical Data on the Cloud?
Presented by Jess Kozman (Katalyst Data Management)
Abstract
If you work with geotechnical data in analysis and interpretation software applications (yes, including Excel), you probably know that your organization is looking for ways to leverage cloud technologies to make that data more accessible. What you may not have thought about is how a cloud data strategy can make it easier for you to find the data you need to support business decisions, no matter the size of your company or your asset team. In this discussion we will give examples of some of the ways that cloud infrastructure, storage, and compute are streamlining interpretation workflows, and making data more Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR). Recent case studies will show how cloud services provide access to validated data, from known sources, in real time to support business critical decisions. We will show how entry-level technology solutions can help your exploration teams and data to be cloud ready.
