Rob Kirk has put together a series of presentations examining the various different components of a stratigraphic sequence in outcrop and in the sub-surface. Each of these talks will be given as part of a mini-workshop. Rob will kick off each session with a presentation looking at outcrop and sub-surface examples, and then attendees can examine and interpret real-world examples from Rob’s collection. The Late Carboniferous–Triassic Cooper Basin is Australia’s main onshore petroleum province spanning an area of 153,000 km2. The basin was located in the continental interior of eastern Gondwana at high latitudes (70°S) when the supercontinent Pangea was in its final stage of assembly.
